Academic Report

China

Theme: Overview of China’s Carbon Peak and Carbon Neutralization policies and Low-carbon community practice
Speaker: Ms. LIN Fu(National Center of climate change Strategy and Cooperation  Policy and Regulation Dep. as an Assistant Researcher )

Ms. Lin is an assistant researcher in the policy and regulation department of the national climate change strategy research and international cooperation center of the Ministry of ecology and environment. She graduated from Tongji University in 2013 with a master’s degree in engineering and currently studying for doctorate in Tsinghua University. Her main research fields are about climate change policy and system, national low-carbon pilot evaluation and policy evaluation. She has been engaged in the research on progress and evaluation of Low-carbon communities while published 2 academic papers on Journal of Environmental Protection (Chinese). She has submitted eight policy suggestions to National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Ecological Environment. She has participated in the preparation of the fourth National Assessment Report on Climate Change, and participated the government review of the IPCC special report of 1.5℃.

 

Korea    

Theme: A study on the necessity of environment subject in Korean national curriculum
Speaker : Mr.SHIN Kyungjun  (Soongmoon Middle School, Korea – Environment Teachers Association Dep. as an Environment Subject Teacher)

Mr. Shin is teaching of environment subject at Soongmoon middle school in Seoul. He is also working as a spokesperson of KETA(Korea Environment Teachers Association). In particular, He is interested in renewable energy. In 2013, He obtained the result of correcting the wrong description of nuclear power in middle school technology textbooks through His thesis. In 2015, He controlled a social action to resist reducing about environmental education in korean national curriculum. He is  working as an author of environment textbook and a tutor at Korea cyber middle school(Broadcast Communication Middle School) and EBS(Korea Educational Broadcasting System). And he has written several books and theses.

 

Japan  

Theme: ESD Teacher Program to train ESD leaders
Speaker: Mr.  NAKAZAWA  Shizuo(Nara University of  Education  as an Associate Professor)

Graduated from Faculty of Literature, Ritsumeikan University. Graduated from the Graduate School of Nara University of Education (Bachelor of Education).Mr. Nakazawa worked as an elementary school teacher for 23 years, and engaged in practical research on social studies education using constructivism. In March 2007, he encountered ESD when he was a supervisor of the Nara City Board of Education, and moved to Nara University of Education to conduct research on ESD through world cultural heritage and historical cultural  heritage. In 2015, he was commissioned by the Japan/UNESCO Partnership Project to identify the qualities and  abilities required for teachers to teach ESD. And then he developed an ESD teacher program. Currently, he is conducting ESD teacher programs for in-service teachers throughout Japan to develop teachers who can teach ESD appropriately.

Theme: Prospective choices: Carbon neutral education and practice at a community level
Speaker: Ms.WANG Jiawei (Nanjing University of science and Technology second -year student) 

Born in Ordos , Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Ms. Wang became involved in the Mother River protection and environmental recycling project when she was in high school in her hometown and found it very rewarding. While attending Nanjing University of Science and Technology, she joined the school’s environmental organization, the Green Age Environmental Association, during her freshman year. She took a course on environmental issues after school and gained a deeper understanding of environmental issues through research and study, followed by participation in the association’s survey of trees in Moon Lake Park, and later became the head of the association’s environmental education branch. After the Association created the Ecological Civilization Volunteer Lecturer Group, she used her own personal experience and research results as the basis for her lectures, and led team members to conduct lectures on consumption reduction and regional carbon sinks in different communities, as well as popularizing related knowledge to the public on Weibo.

 

Korea

Theme: Response to the climate crisis from ecological citizenship education.
Speaker: Mr. PARK Hyunsung  (Incheon Nam High School third-year  Student)     

He is  a senior at Incheon Nam High School. As leading the only environmental club in Incheon Nam High School, he has been performed climate-environmental education library service, environmental cleanup activities near school, and environmental-vegetarian campaigns. Also, as a member of the 1st and 2nd Youth Steering Committee of the National Environmental Education Center, He is  trying to improve school environmental education, raise students’ environmental awareness, and practice carbon neutrality through meetings and environmental education forums.  He believes the curriculum needs to be changed to enhance school environmental education. Therefore, He is  trying to establish environmental education as an important topic in the curriculum.

Theme: Activities of Chiba University Student Committee for EMS
Speaker: Ms. TAKEMURA  Arisa(Chiba University  third-year  Student  / Student Committee for EMS  Vice Chairperson)

In order for Chiba University to obtain ISO 14001 certification, the international standard for environmental management systems (EMS), the “Chiba University Environmental ISO Student Committee” was established in 2003 by 40 voluntary students to establish and operate the system on a student basis. Chiba University successfully obtained ISO 14001 certification in January 2005. In 2017, the committee joined forces with Keiyo Bank, Ltd. In 2017, we launched the “eco-project” in cooperation with Keiyo Bank, Ltd. and are also focusing on environmental and SDGs awareness activities for the local community.
