Self Evaluation

Through the concerted efforts of citizens groups and government and academic organizations, we are pleased to finally see the surfacing of an ocean consciousness on the island of Taiwan. More and more frequently, we are now seeing marine issues in the media and many people in Taiwan are developing a passion for whales and dolphins.
We are delighted to see over ten thousand Taiwanese people per year take an interest in whale watching and show willingness to step off of Taiwanユs shorelines. Kuroshio Ocean Education Foundation has endeavored for many years to train marine ecology interpreters. We hope that people going out to sea have the chance to sight whales and at the same time hope that our interpreters can help raise their awareness of the ocean around Taiwan. Currently, we are the only organization in Taiwan geared toward giving such a large number of people the chance to get close up to whales in an outdoor classroom setting, dedicated to teaching about ocean ecology.
We adhere to the principle of making sustainable use of the environment and natural resources. We highly emphasize communication with other whale watchers and whale watching ship masters, by which we hope to gradually reach consensus between marine resource conservation and whale watching practices.
