Introduction of the Organization
Objective:
  • Bring together people who are interested in the study and conservation of birds in Sri Lanka
  • Generate interest among laymen and students of natural history on the study and conservation of birds
  • Institute, direct and carryout islandwide programmes of field study on various aspects of bird biology
  • Establish links with other groups in other parts of the world with similar interest

Regular Environmental Education / Education for Sustainable Development Programs
Title Place Operational features
Preserving Heritage for Tommorow Sinharaja World Heritage Site Three day Field Workshops for School children and teachers from selected schools are done at Sinharaja World Heritage site. This monthly programme is sponsored by Sri Lanka Telecom.
Schools Environment Education Programme - Sinharaja World Heritage -Western Region Western Sinharaja Regular teaching programmes on Environment for five selected schools are done at villages of the Western parts of the Sinharaja World Heritage Site. Library facilities of the selected schools are also improved. This programme is sponsored by Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC).
Environment Education for Tsunami affected Schhols Hambanthota District Regular Teaching programmes on Environment for five selected schools which receive Tsunami affected children are done at Hambanthota District. Infrastructure development and library improvements were also done.
