- Introduction of the Organization
-
- Objective:
- The Community Uplift Program (CUP), Pakistan was established as a non-profit development organization, but with a difference. We believe in reaching out to the ultra poor with the goal of empowering them to stand on their own feet. This, we visualize, is only possible through the effective mobilization and organization of resources and by forging sustainable partnerships with all stakeholders with the aim of enabling the poor to obtain their basic human needs, without any discrimination on the basis of gender, caste, color or religion.
To help the poor communities achieve sustainable livelihoods, we would promote the introduction of innovative approaches and methodologies for grassroots level development through participation of all stakeholders. We visualize setting up good governance and results-based project implementation standards that serve as a model for replication by the government and other civil society organizations. CUP, thus believes in a paradigm shift from the run of the mill activity based and high cost development interventions to an integrated holistic development that is can be measured against benchmarks and indicators. We also base our projects on four steady pillars, namely: (a) integration of resources and effort, (b) participation of all partners, (c) result based project management and (d) complete transparency of processes and other inputs.
Our vision is to see Pakistan, a modern enlightened democratic nation whose citizens have equal opportunities and rights so that they are able to live as self-respecting citizens in the comity of nations.
Objective:
CUP will strive to help disadvantaged and marginalized communities in reducing their poverty levels through social mobilization of community/village based organizations with a view to enabling them to: (a) acquire their basic social & human needs and, (b) generate sustainable livelihoods.
CUP will base the formulation and implementation of its program/projects/interventions on a participatory process, which involves all other partners/stakeholders: the community, government at appropriate levels, NGOs, donors and philanthropists.
In designing its program components, CUP will integrate the needs-based social services delivery, advocacy and rights-based approaches, which are free from any bias on the basis of religion, caste, creed or gender.
