Introduction of the Organization
Objective:

Roshni Foundation is a non-political, non-sectarian, non-commercial organization and non Governmental organization works in the field of education, poverty alleviation, health, legal aid and social welfare activities.

The education conditions in Pakistan are not so good. There are 150,809 primary schools in Pakistan while 18,220,000 students are enrolled (2002-2003 census). It means for 120 students, on average, there is only school. While Govt. of Punjab claimed that in 2005 due to their campaign more than 9, 00,000 students are enrolled. This means that existing primary schools now become more overcrowded. The basic aim of Roshni Foundation in education sector is to develop schools in remote areas to increase the literacy rate in good environment with the help of local community and NGOs.

Health conditions in Pakistan are also not very good. Now population of Pakistan is 151.548 millions with the population growth rate of 1.90. For 151,548 people there are only 906 hospitals, 4554 dispensaries, 108,062 registered doctors, and 48,809 registered nurses. Roshni Foundation aim to build dispensaries in the remote areas so that basic health facilities would be given to people.

In Pakistan almost 70 % population is living in rural areas. According to 1998 census labor force participation rate is only 38.98 %. While among male the participation ratio is 59.24%. And among female the participation ratio is only 2.23%. It shows that majority of our population is idle. Only one or two persons are working for their other five or six family members. Women make almost 54% of our population and only 2.23% of them are working. We aim to mobilize the women of rural areas for their social services so that social activities of rural areas can be increased.
Roshni Foundation helps poor people who are not able to pay the fees of lawyers for their rights.
We are working on participatory approach. Our Main focus is to institutionalize the people.
