Introduction of the Organization
Objective:
Objective:
- Citizens' Movement for Environmental Justice perceives the environmental crisis of the earth ecosystem and the Korean peninsula to have originated from a view of the world based on domination and suppression, and seeks to contribute in the realization of a socially righteous and ecologically sustainable environmental justice to overcome this crisis.
- Realization of environmental justice: Creation of environmentally just world where nations, classes, and generations utilize the environment fairly and do impartial responsibilities.
- Realization of the environment-friendly social system: transmission to and realization of the environment-friendly social economic system managing the demand effectively rather than unplanned increase of supply.
- Establishment: Citizens' Movement for Environmental Justice began as the department of environmental research under the control of research institution of Economic Practice Association in 1992 and next year, it was founded as the Environmental Development Center. This organization has developed alternatives of economic policies and mainly made research. The title of this organization was changed to Citizens' Movement for Environmental Justice in 1998. Since 1999 it was separated from economic Practice Association and it has done active activities based on citizen's actions as well as specialty. Their major activities are as the following: (a) cope with national troublesome development, (b) movement for restoring life-water, (c) Blue Sky 2002 Movement, and (d) Mothers' Meeting for Protecting the Next Generation.
