- Objective:
- The Center for Nature Environment Education exists to promote nature environment education (NEE) for both students and members of the public. Its main aims are the establishment of the principles of NEE, development of research methods for NEE, research and development for educational materials for NEE, the training of leaders in practical NEE activities, provision of facilities and equipment for NEE, the implementation of public educational courses in NEE, and the management of the Nara Training Farm and Okuyoshino Training Forest.
The Center for Nature Environment Education consists of two facilities, the Nara Training Farm and Okuyoshino Training Forest. The Okuyoshino Training Forest is situated about 60 km south of the University and covers an area of about 176 ha from a height of 400 m to 1200 m. The forest consists of primary forest, secondary forest, and plantation forest. There is an education and research building and accommodation for 40 people on site.
The Nara Training Farm is situated about 1 km south of the University and consists of administrative and other buildings, and 84.2 ares of cropland, 3 ares of flower beds and ponds, greenhouses and so on on a total of 1.1 ha.

Title Place Operational features Experiential Course in Rice Cultivation Nara Training Farm May 10 - seed sowing, June 7 - seedling transplanting, October 4 - harvesting, December 6 - making rice cakes (2003). Course open to elementary and middle school students and their parents. Enjoying the Nature of Autumn with Sweet Potatoes Nara Training Farm October 22 - digging potatoes, November 5 and 26 - cooking potatoes (2003). Course open to Kindergarten instructors and other interested persons. Parents and Children Enjoying the Summer Forest Together Okuyoshi Training Forest Two nights, three days (Friday to Sunday) every year in late June. Main contents:
1) Camping Skills - Living in tents and camp cooking.
2) Nature observation of flora and fauna through forest hiking.
