In 1996, Keidanren became the first member of Japanユs industrial world to join IUCN. As a trustee, donations are solicited from industry for Keidanrenユs environmental protection fund, while also serving as a bridge between industry and NGO organizations, holding symposiums for the exchange of ideas, as well as environmental education. Annually, missions are to be dispatched for observation of environmental activities, and the office director is to verify the actual results of aid projects and prepare reports on environmental practices.
